Position Summary

The VP of Accounting and Corporate Controller is responsible for leading all accounting activities at ‘CompEye’. Including general ledger and fixed asset accounting as well as accounts payable. The Controller is responsible for producing timely and accurate monthly financial statements and ensuring the annual audit is completed successfully on time and within budget. The Controller will lead and mentor the accounting team and ensure they have the necessary tools and training to achieve their success.

 

Work Location: Must reside in either MST or PST and be willing to travel to our Corporate office monthly

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain internal controls, financial policies, and departmental procedures to meet Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)
  • Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
  • Manage the preparation of monthly financial statements by entity, region, and on a consolidated basis to effectively communicate the company’s results to key stakeholders.
  • Report and analyze the monthly financial results and trends versus budget, prior month, and prior year with the relevant business leaders to ensure transparency and effective financial data is shared across the organization in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Mentor and train staff throughout the department.
  • Play a critical role in setting policies and procedures to efficiently gather and record entries from our procurement systems, payroll systems, and clinical practice management systems.
  • Work with the Vice President of Revenue Cycle Management to understand monthly trends in accounts receivable activity.
  • Work with the Treasury Manager to ensure an accurate weekly cash forecast.
  • Work with the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis to ensure a timely and accurate annual budget and quarterly reforecast.
  • Analyze and interpret balance sheets, income statements, and statements of cash flows.
  • Record investments and maintain fixed asset records.
  • Maintain a listing of facility and equipment leases and record these appropriately in the books and records.
  • Manage the integration of affiliated practices onto the Company’s accounting software and month-end close cycle shortly after consummation of the partnership, and ensure that the transaction is accounted for properly.
  • Ensure the intercompany entries balance and reconcile at the end of each month.
  • Ensure timely filing of federal, state, and local taxes and business income filings (sales and use, commerce tax, personal property tax etc.)
  • Communicate accounting policies and procedures and educate staff as needed throughout the organization.
  • Manage the annual audit and federal tax filing process with external CPAs.
  • Prepare board meeting and debt reporting packages on a quarterly basis.
  • This position will be responsible for mentoring and training staff in the accounting and accounts payable departments.

 

Experience Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Controller for a private equity backed healthcare services company with specific and detailed understanding of the outpatient healthcare revenue cycle.
  • People oriented and results driven.
  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills.
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
  • Knowledge of state and local taxes.
  • To perform this job successfully, the individual should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP systems such as Dynamics365.

 

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting Required, MBA preferred.
  • CPA Required

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
