As TPA & Payer Solutions continues to experience significant growth, this role will be critical in strengthening operational execution, scaling team capability, improving service reliability, and driving continuous improvement across the data environment. The leader in this role will bring strong SQL and database expertise, operational discipline, and the ability to partner effectively with senior business and IT leaders to align technical priorities with business needs.

Success in this role requires strong people leadership, sound technical judgment, clear communication, and a consistent focus on operational excellence, resiliency, and long-term platform health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of data engineers and DBAs, creating clear expectations, strong accountability, and ongoing growth while contributing to resource planning, organizational design, and talent strategy
  • Oversee the design, delivery, support, and continuous improvement of data platforms, database-driven solutions, and operational data capabilities, including scalable ingestion, transformation, storage, and retrieval solutions for analytics, reporting, and operational use cases
  • Drive operational excellence across the data environment through strong support practices, monitoring, performance optimization, resiliency planning, root cause analysis, automation, and reduction of operational risk
  • Provide leadership across data engineering, database management, and select platform/infrastructure responsibilities, promoting strong disciplines in data quality, governance, service reliability, disaster recovery, scalability, and long-term platform health
  • Partner across engineering, architecture, infrastructure, security, and business teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions aligned to enterprise priorities, while translating technical priorities, risks, and improvement opportunities into clear, business-relevant communication for senior business and IT leaders
  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and thoughtful innovation, including the responsible use of AI-enabled tools to improve productivity, analysis, documentation, and operational efficiency

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, database engineering, data platform operations, or related engineering disciplines. Plus experience overseeing enterprise-scale data solutions, including data pipelines, database environments, and operational support responsibilities
  • 7+ years of experience with SQL and solid experience with database technologies, data modeling, and database performance optimization
  • 5+ years of leadership, performance management, and developing engineering teams in a people leader or lead capacity
  • 5+ years of experience driving operational excellence, service stability, and continuous improvement in complex technology environments
  • 5+ year of experience working effectively across engineering, infrastructure, security, architecture, and business teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • 2+ years of experience using AI-enabled tools to improve productivity, accelerate analysis, strengthen documentation, or streamline operational workflows in a responsible way, including the judgment to determine when human review and technical expertise are required
  • Excellent business acumen and communication skills, including the ability to engage and influence senior business and IT leaders
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance day-to-day operational needs with longer-term engineering and platform priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and technologies such as Python, Spark, data warehousing, or modern data platform tooling
