FICO (NYSE: FICO) is a leading global analytics software company, helping businesses in 100+ countries make better decisions. Join our world-class team today and fulfill your career potential!
The Opportunity
The Sr Engineer (Snowflake/dbt) is a hands-on technical role where you'll design, build, and own the data platform that powers enterprise analytics and AI at FICO. This is a high-impact IC role on a small team building modern data products on Snowflake, from dbt pipelines and semantic models to AI-ready datasets that Cortex Agents query directly. You won't be taking tickets, you'll own platforms, make architectural decisions, and deliver work that reaches SVP and C-suite stakeholders. If you want to build the future of enterprise analytics on a modern stack (Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Cortex AI, GitHub CI/CD) in an AI-first culture, this role is for you.
What You'll Contribute
Perform hands-on analysis, technical design, data modeling, development, testing, and deployment of Snowflake-based data solutions. Own the end-to-end lifecycle of analytics data products, from raw ingestion through dbt transformation to semantic models consumed by AI agents and BI tools.
Design, build, and maintain dbt models, tests, and CI/CD pipelines for enterprise BI and analytics use cases. You'll own a production dbt project from day one.
Build and publish semantic models (Snowflake semantic views) that make enterprise data consumable by AI agents, BI tools, and business users, without requiring SQL.
Own Snowflake platform responsibilities including data architecture, query optimization, RBAC design, cost management, and warehouse administration. Experience in setting up Role-based access, Row Level Access, and Column Masking policies.
Develop dashboards and analytics deliverables using modern visualization tools (Sigma, Power BI, Streamlit, or similar). We're evaluating Snowflake-native BI options, adaptability matters more than a specific tool.
Partner with multiple cross-department business stakeholders and internal IT colleagues to translate business questions into data products, reports, dashboards, semantic models, or agent-queryable datasets.
Contribute to FICO's AI-powered analytics platform by building the data foundation that Cortex Agents query, validating data quality, and expanding domain coverage.
Troubleshoot and ensure timely resolution of production data issues and platform defects.
Identify and apply creative and innovative approaches to resolving data modeling, integration, and delivery challenges.
Follow and support established processes for enhancements and change requests, as well as recommend and enforce coding standards.
Prepare and document technical designs and conduct code reviews and checkpoint meetings as needed.
Support and mentor junior team members through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
Effectively communicate within the technical team and with business partners.
What We're Seeking
Extensive experience with Snowflake, including data modeling, query optimization, warehouse architecture, and administration. This is your primary platform.
Strong experience with dbt, building models, tests, macros, and CI/CD pipelines. Solid understanding of dimensional modeling, star schemas, and semantic layer design.
Best practice for implementing RBAC, Row Level Access, and Column Masking policies.
Strong knowledge of SQL. Python experience is a plus.
Experience building dashboards and analytics deliverables in at least one modern BI/visualization tool (Sigma, Power BI, Tableau, Streamlit, or similar). The specific tool matters less than analytical thinking and design sense.
Fivetran experience, including experience with ELT pipelines and data integration patterns.
Preferred experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions, or similar source code control and CI/CD systems.
Wel versed in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or related roles.
Strong technical, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative and dynamic team environment. Self-directed execution, can take a vague requirement and deliver without daily check-ins.
Experience working within an Agile/Scrum software development environment.
Demonstrated technical curiosity and passion for learning.
Bachelor's in Computer Science, Data Science, or related disciplines or relevant experience in data architecture, analytics engineering, and data platform development.
AI/LLM familiarity (Snowflake Cortex, semantic models, agents) is a plus but not required.
Power Automate, workflow automation, or DataOps tooling experience is a plus.
Terraform experience is a plus.
