Job Profile Summary

The role is focused on strategic planning, financial management, and enterprise alignment for the enterprise Epic (EHR) program and related clinical informatics initiatives. Owns the connection between long-range strategy and day-to-day execution, and building roadmaps, evaluating vendor direction, managing the financial portfolio, and identifying and mitigating risk across the program. Partners closely with Medical, IT, Privacy, Legal, and Compliance leaders to ensure initiatives are sound from every angle, and works directly with business and technical stakeholders to translate project requests into requirements and, ultimately, delivered outcomes. This role directly supports the organization's ability to deliver efficient, high-quality, and safe healthcare through its technology investments.

A Brief Overview

Shapes the strategic direction of the Epic and clinical informatics portfolio by developing multi-year roadmaps, evaluating vendor roadmaps for applicability and opportunity, and aligning initiatives to enterprise priorities. Manages budgeting, capital planning, and financial tracking for the program, while proactively identifying project and program risks and engaging the right cross-functional partners to resolve them. Serves as a bridge between business users and technical teams, ensuring requests are well understood, properly scoped, and translated into requirements and deliverables that hold up through implementation. Brings structure and discipline to a fast-moving, matrixed environment through strong documentation, clear governance, and consistent follow-through.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and maintain strategic roadmaps for the Epic and clinical informatics portfolio, aligning initiatives to enterprise and CI priorities.

  • Review vendor (Epic) roadmaps and upcoming features/functionality on an ongoing basis to assess applicability, opportunity, and fit within the current software environment.

  • Identify potential project and program risks early, develop mitigation plans, and engage business partners as needed (including Medical, IT, Privacy, Legal, and Compliance) to resolve issues and keep initiatives on track.

  • Work directly with business users and technical resources to understand project requests, ask the right clarifying questions, and translate requirements into clear, actionable project deliverables.

  • Lead the creation and fulfillment of use cases, identifying business and functional requirements and partnering with IT resources to translate requirements and workflows into technical specifications.

  • Partner with Project Managers to identify tasks, sequencing, and associated estimates for strategic and financial workstreams.

  • Support execution of vendor upgrades, system changes, and environment maintenance procedures from a strategic and financial planning perspective.

  • Participate in the analysis of current-state processes and collaborate with clinical, business, and reporting users to define future-state processes; identify and document process and data gaps.

  • Own creation and completion of project-related deliverables, including use cases, business requirements, scope documents, gap analyses, and impact assessments.

  • Participate in annual budgeting, capital processes, and quality improvement activities for the organization, including tracking of Epic software costs, contracting, and procurement.

  • Coordinate team and group activities across CVS Health and vendor staff resources, providing guidance and direction to project teams on planning, execution, and standards.

  • Bridge communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex topics for a range of audiences across a matrixed organization.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business partners, vendors, and senior stakeholders to support informed, well-governed decision-making.

For This Role You Will Need - Minimum Requirements

  • 7–10 years of related experience in healthcare, strategy, finance, or healthcare IT/informatics is required.

  • Demonstrated experience with strategic planning, roadmap development, and portfolio or financial management within a healthcare IT or informatics setting.

  • Experience working on large, cross-functional projects; strong knowledge of clinical applications and the healthcare industry.
