Senior Backend Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE This is a senior backend engineering role at a bootstrapped fintech startup building credit-access products for underserved Americans. You'll own critical infrastructure end-to-end — from design through deployment — and play a meaningful part in shaping the technical direction of a small, high-ownership engineering team. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Own backend systems and infrastructure end-to-end, designing, deploying, and scaling them on AWS. - Build performant, reliable APIs and services that power consumer financial products. - Design and implement scalable architectures using Node.js and TypeScript. - Make pragmatic tradeoffs between speed, reliability, scalability, and maintainability. - Ship production code frequently while maintaining high quality standards. - Establish technical patterns and best practices for the engineering team. - Collaborate with product engineers and stakeholders to drive meaningful outcomes. - Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery without compromising quality.
