About the Role In this role, you’ll lead the design foundations for generative UI across ChatGPT. You’ll make nuanced design judgment explicit and usable by both product teams and models, influencing how OpenAI defines, evaluates, and trains for craft and taste. A paramount part of this role is raising OpenAI’s craft bar. This work extends beyond maintaining a component library: you’ll define what excellent generative UI looks and feels like, establish when and why a model should choose particular interface patterns, and help new experiences strengthen a coherent system across platforms. Working closely with research, engineering, product, and design, you’ll build a continuous learning loop between design principles, generated interfaces, evaluation, and model behavior—shaping a system that becomes more coherent, capable, and expressive as model intelligence grows.
