The Lead Director of Trade Industry Analysis role is a highly visible opportunity in our Trade Value Strategy team, responsible for driving strategies to advance financial performance and profitability for both clients and the PBM organization.
As the prescription drug landscape changes with new high-cost therapies, increasing pressure to reduce pharmaceutical costs and the evolving policy landscape, the right person for this role is a highly motivated, forward-thinker who can identify opportunities and leverage matrix partners to develop innovative strategies effectively and efficiently. You will use your abilities to deliver actionable insights to Trade Value Strategy Leadership and the broader Trade organization.
Your responsibilities will include identification and evaluation of strategies to optimize client value in response to pharmaceutical market events. You will collaborate with other PBM functional areas to assess various trade and formulary strategy initiatives, with the goal of improving client net costs. You will also be responsible for communicating analytical results and insights to senior business leaders and must be able to clearly explain technical concepts to leaders with highly varied levels of technical background.
Additional responsibilities will be to:
- Develop or enhance processes and reporting to understand and drive management of rebate and margin impacts of formulary strategies, pharmaceutical manufacturer contract changes, public policy changes, and other internal initiatives or external market events
- Assess pharmaceutical industry trends to develop relevant insights and determine potential implications on future rebate value, and develop financial impact analyses and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making
- Collaborate with Trade Relations, Formulary Strategy, and Trade Finance teams to investigate opportunities to optimize rebate value and/or drive lowest net cost for clients
- Lead a team that designs, develops, and delivers analytic solutions to inform rebate strategies and evaluate opportunities that will improve rebate and net cost performance
-Serve as cross-functional partner to other business functions such as Supply Chain, Government Affairs, and Communications to assess and align on the impact of market events, policy changes, and trade strategies
- Promote development of team members through coaching, training, and leadership opportunities
To be successful, you should possess:
- Experience in managing complex work processes in a past-faced matrix environment
- Experience in making informed recommendations and decisions in a dynamic and changing environment
- Experience developing analyses and presentations to explain business issues and/or recommend strategies
- Strong problem solving, analytical, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively engage with and influence internal stakeholders of varying backgrounds, demonstrating deep analytical understanding in a consumable way

Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in managed care, which may include pharmaceutical market access, pharmacy benefit management, formulary and rebate strategy setting, or with a focus on financial strategy
- Demonstrated knowledge of the evolving pharmaceutical regulatory environment
- Advanced capabilities using Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
- Experience in Microsoft Excel-based modeling
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years experience in pharmaceutical manufacturer market access strategy
- 3+ years experience in pharmaceutical manufacturer pricing and contracting strategy
- Demonstrated understanding of pharmaceutical government pricing (AMP, Best Price, ASP, 340B)
Experience interpreting and leveraging large, complex datasets to inform strategic decisions Team leadership or management experience, either directly or indirectly leading other professionals
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, healthcare, business, or related field required; or equivalent experience
- MBA or Master’s Degree preferred
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$100,000.00 - $231,540.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
