Head of Engineering, Payment Gateway

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Head of Engineering, Payment Gateway based in Spain. This is a senior engineering leadership opportunity to shape the technology behind a high-scale digital payments platform serving millions of businesses and individuals. You will own the technical strategy, architecture, and engineering roadmap across payment acceptance, payouts, commerce tools, and developer-facing capabilities. The platform processes significant transaction volumes and is expanding toward multi-currency and international markets. You will lead multiple engineering organizations through experienced managers while setting high standards for reliability, security, scalability, and engineering quality. A major focus will be creating an exceptional developer experience through APIs, SDKs, documentation, and seamless integrations. This role is ideal for a hands-on technology leader who combines deep Java expertise with strong organizational leadership and payments experience.
