Director of Accounting
Location: Remote (with relocation to one of our main hubs in WA, CO or FL, required within 12 months)
Department: Finance & Accounting
Reports To: Vice President, Finance & Accounting
Work Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Travel: Minimal (as required for site visits, audits, and leadership meetings)
Direct Reports: Accounting Managers and Staff Accountants
Compensation: $170k - $190k D.O.E
Bonus: Annual performance-based bonus eligible
Role Overview
MSHS Pacific Power Group is undergoing a transformative journey integrating legacy operations, scaling for growth, and building a world-class finance function. The Director of Accounting will be a cornerstone in this evolution, ensuring financial integrity and operational excellence across the enterprise.
This role provides leadership and oversight of core accounting operations across a multi-site industrial services organization. The Director of Accounting ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all aspects of financial management, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, cash management, tax reporting, and audit readiness.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting functions (GL, AP/AR, fixed assets, cash management). Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Ensure month-end close within 10 business days across all entities.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and regulatory requirements; lead internal and external audits; maintain and improve internal controls.
- Prepare and review financial statements, variance analysis, and management reports.
- Establish and enforce company-wide accounting policies, procedures, and internal control frameworks to ensure compliance and consistency across all business units.
- Act as a senior advisor to the VP Finance and CFO on accounting impacts of business strategies, capital investments, and M&A activities.
- Lead the transition and optimization of centralized accounting operations within the Fort Collins shared services center, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
- Provide accounting insight and prepare materials for executive leadership, board meetings, and private equity partners.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team. Partner cross-functionally with Finance, HR, and Operations to support growth, cost discipline, and strategic decision-making.
- Oversee ERP and reporting platforms (e.g., Infor, DOMO, Microsoft Dynamics). Champion automation and process improvement initiatives that increase accuracy, transparency, and scalability.
- Build a high-performance accounting team by setting clear goals, developing career paths, and fostering a culture of accountability and precision.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Mandatory)
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role (Mandatory)
- Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit processes (Mandatory)
- Proven experience leading accounting in a multi-site, complex environment (Mandatory)
- Demonstrated ability to manage close cycles, reporting accuracy, and compliance rigor (Mandatory)
- Prior experience in a private equity–backed environment with $500M+ scale and/or high-growth startup complexity (Mandatory)
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to simplify complexity and provide clear guidance to stakeholders (Mandatory)
Desired Skills
- CPA certification strongly preferred
- Industry experience in Marine, Power Generation, Defense, Industrial Services, Manufacturing, or Energy
- Prior success leading teams through ERP implementations, system integrations, or automation projects
- Proficiency in financial reporting tools (Infor, DOMO, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to build and refine scalable processes in high-growth or post-merger environments
- A calm, steady leadership style with a focus on quality, accuracy, and risk-aware decision-making
- Experience collaborating with FP&A teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
