Director, Marketing Data & Analytics
Zendesk, Inc.Job Description
As a pivotal leader on Zendesk’s Marketing Strategy & Operations team, the Director of Marketing Analytics will turn marketing data into better decisions, stronger investment choices, and measurable business outcomes. This role sets the vision for marketing measurement and insights across the funnel, bringing together performance reporting, attribution, forecasting, experimentation, data quality, and executive storytelling.
What you’ll be doing
Lead and develop a high-performing Marketing Analytics team focused on measurement, insights, performance management, forecasting, attribution, engineering, and decision support.
Define and evolve the marketing measurement strategy, including standardized KPI definitions, reporting governance, funnel health, channel performance, and ROI frameworks.
Build trusted, scalable analytics products and self-service dashboards that give Marketing and senior leaders timely visibility into performance and opportunities.
Partner with Finance, Sales/Revenue Operations, Data/Engineering, Product, and Marketing leaders on planning, target setting, pipeline pacing, budget allocation, and business reviews.
Advance attribution and incrementality approaches, connecting campaign and channel activity to pipeline, revenue, customer outcomes, and investment decisions.
Create a culture of insight generation: frame the business question, identify the right evidence, explain the implications, and recommend what to do next.
Establish data quality, semantic-layer, documentation, and governance practices that make analytics reliable, reusable, and understandable across teams.
Translate complex analytical findings into concise narratives and recommendations for executives and non-technical stakeholders.
What you bring to the role
A commercially minded analytics leader who cares as much about decision quality and business impact as methodological rigor.
The ability to move from ambiguous business questions to clear analytical plans, useful outputs, and decisive recommendations.
Strong executive presence and storytelling skills, with the ability to make complex data accessible without oversimplifying it.
A collaborative leadership style that builds trust with Marketing, Finance, Sales/RevOps, Data, and technical partners.
Curiosity and healthy skepticism: you test assumptions, explain uncertainty, and distinguish signal from noise.
A talent developer who can raise the team’s analytical craft while keeping work connected to the highest-value business priorities.
Willingness to leverage Agentic Analytics and deliver self-service analytics capabilities to stakeholders.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in marketing analytics, business intelligence, performance analytics, strategy, or a related discipline, including experience leading teams.
Proven experience with marketing measurement, attribution, forecasting, experimentation, channel or campaign performance, and ROI analysis.
Strong SQL and data-modeling fluency, with experience working across a data warehouse (Snowflake, AWS,etc), BI/dashboarding environments (Tableau, Streamlit, etc), and data management systems (SelectStar, Informatica, etc)
Experience integrating marketing, web, advertising, CRM, and revenue data into trusted reporting and decision frameworks.
