A vacancy exists for a Business, Computer and Information Technology Instructor within the Brandywine Virtual Academy Division at the Chester County Intermediate Unit in Downingtown, PA.
Our BCIT program is designed to prepare students for the rapidly evolving digital world by providing cutting-edge instruction in business technology, computer science fundamentals, and information systems. We emphasize practical application of emerging technologies including cloud computing, data analytics, cybersecurity principles, and digital business solutions. Our curriculum integrates real-world business scenarios with hands-on technology experiences, preparing students to be innovative problem-solvers and digitally literate professionals.
The ideal candidate will champion technology integration across all learning experiences, utilizing advanced educational technologies, virtual collaboration platforms, and industry-standard software to create engaging, interactive learning environments. We seek an educator who can bridge traditional business concepts with modern technological applications, fostering computational thinking and digital entrepreneurship skills essential for 21st-century careers.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor level degree in education required; Masters preferred
- Experience teaching students in an online environment preferred
- PDE teaching certificates in business, computer and information technology or Computer Science (7-12) required
- Additional PDE teaching certificate in Science (General or subject-specific) preferred
- PDE special education teaching certification preferred
- Experience teaching Business and Computer technology preferred
- Strong technology and troubleshooting skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Current within one year FBI, PA State and Child Abuse Clearances
Duties & Responsibilities
- Instruct individuals and groups in subject area with emphasis on technology integration and digital literacy
- Provide specially designed instruction for eligible special education students
- Plan curriculum and lessons that incorporate current business technology trends and industry-standard software applications
- Evaluate and monitor student progress based on classroom performance, test scores, and observation of behavior
- Support objectives and interventions of the educational program through innovative technology solutions
- Maintain safe physical environment of the classroom, including proper technology usage protocols
- Maintain contact with parents of students and/or professionals concerning student progress
- Prepare educational records, classroom observation records, and other documentation as required
- Foster student competency in emerging technologies, digital communication, and technology-enhanced business practices
Schedule:
190 days per year (BVA Secondary Calendar)-
Full-time position following a Tuesday-Friday flex calendar from August through July (including summer school). Teachers typically work 4 days per week with 3-day weekends, though some weeks require all 5 days for professional development and school operations. 2025-2026 school year salary (based on experience):
- $58,751 to $88,563 - Instructional I Certification
- $61,300 to $92,110 - Instructional II Certification
- $65,394 to $100,586 - Master's Degree
- $68,403 to $104,546 – Masters + 15
- $69,938 to $106,442 - Masters + 30
