AI Application Tester
We are seeking an AI Application Tester to support the quality assurance, validation, and continuous improvement of AI-enabled software applications in a SAFe Agile Scrum environment. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and improving functional, regression, integration, usability, and end-to-end testing activities for modern web applications, with a strong emphasis on AI-enabled testing tools, Generative AI-assisted test design, and intelligent quality engineering practices.
You will work closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, developers, architects, business analysts, security teams, and operations teams to ensure applications are thoroughly tested, defects are identified early, and releases meet business, technical, accessibility, and user expectations. This role requires a strong blend of traditional software testing expertise, Agile delivery experience, AI-assisted testing awareness, and a disciplined approach to quality in fast-paced enterprise environments.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and delivery-focused tester who enjoys working in Agile teams, applying innovative testing approaches, and helping deliver secure, reliable, and high-quality digital solutions.
What You Will Do
Perform Functional, Regression, Integration, and End-to-End Testing
Execute manual and AI-assisted testing for web-based applications, workflows, and user-facing features across multiple releases and sprint cycles.
Validate business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and system behaviors through well-structured test scenarios and test cases.
Perform functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, and end-to-end testing to ensure application quality and release readiness.
Identify, document, reproduce, and track defects with clear evidence, severity, business impact, and recommended follow-up actions.
Validate that new features, bug fixes, and enhancements do not negatively impact existing application functionality or downstream processes.
Support SAFe Agile Scrum Delivery
Participate actively in SAFe Agile ceremonies including PI Planning, sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, developers, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure user stories are testable and complete.
Review acceptance criteria early in the delivery lifecycle to identify ambiguities, gaps, edge cases, and quality risks before development is completed.
Provide timely testing feedback to support iterative delivery, continuous improvement, and predictable sprint execution.
Contribute to release readiness assessments and validation activities across Agile teams as needed.
Leverage AI-Enabled Testing Tools and Generative AI-Assisted Testing
Use AI-enabled application testing tools to improve test creation, regression analysis, defect detection, test maintenance, and overall testing efficiency.
Apply Generative AI-assisted techniques to help draft test cases, expand test scenarios, identify edge cases, and improve coverage for web application testing.
Evaluate opportunities to use AI responsibly in software testing workflows while maintaining human oversight, traceability, and quality control.
Support intelligent automation initiatives by identifying repeatable test scenarios suitable for automation and AI-assisted execution.
Help improve testing productivity and quality engineering practices through responsible adoption of emerging AI-based testing capabilities.
Validate Web Application Behavior and User Experience
Test responsive web applications across supported browsers, devices, and environments to confirm expected functionality and consistent behavior.
Validate application workflows, navigation, data entry forms, business rules, error handling, and user interactions.
Verify front-end and back-end behavior as applicable, including field validations, data handling, and process flows.
Support testing of usability, workflow consistency, and operational fit for user-facing application features.
Collaborate with business users and stakeholders during user acceptance testing and issue resolution activities.
Ensure Quality, Traceability, and Defect Management
Create and maintain test plans, test cases, test evidence, execution results, and defect documentation in approved tools.
Maintain traceability between requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, test scenarios, executed tests, and reported defects.
Support defect triage discussions with development and product teams to prioritize remediation based on severity, impact, and release timelines.
Monitor testing progress, summarize findings, and communicate quality status, open issues, and release risks clearly to stakeholders.
Contribute to QA metrics, test coverage reporting, defect trends analysis, and testing process improvements over time.
Support Testing in Controlled Enterprise Environments
Follow organizational testing standards, release processes, quality controls, and secure development practices.
Support application testing in environments that may involve sensitive workflows, operational controls, or compliance-related expectations.
Validate that testing activities align with governance, documentation, and change management requirements.
Partner with infrastructure, security, and operations teams as needed to support environment validation, deployment verification, and production readiness.
What You Will Need
Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "PUBLIC TRUST"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY are preferred.
Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum FIVE (5) years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or application validation for enterprise web applications.
Demonstrated experience working as an application tester or QA analyst in a SAFe Agile Scrum environment, including sprint-based testing, backlog refinement, test planning, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Experience developing and executing test plans, test cases, regression suites, integration tests, and defect reports for web-based applications.
Experience using AI-enabled testing tools or intelligent testing platforms to improve testing speed, accuracy, coverage, and efficiency.
Experience using Generative AI to assist with test case generation, scenario expansion, exploratory testing support, or quality analysis for web application testing.
Strong understanding of the software testing lifecycle, defect management, test documentation, and quality assurance best practices.
Experience validating requirements, user stories, workflows, business rules, and acceptance criteria.
Familiarity with web application testing concepts including front-end validation, data validation, workflow testing, browser compatibility testing, and end-to-end test execution.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
Experience using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, Confluence, or similar platforms for test management and collaboration.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and support iterative delivery in a fast-paced enterprise Agile environment.
What Would Be Nice To Have
SAFe, Scrum, ISTQB, or other Agile testing / QA certifications.
Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar frameworks.
Experience using AI-driven test automation, self-healing test tools, visual validation tools, or intelligent regression testing platforms.
Familiarity with prompt engineering techniques and the responsible use of Generative AI for quality engineering workflows.
Experience testing AI-enabled applications, including features such as chat interfaces, summarization, document understanding, intelligent search, recommendations, or workflow assistance.
Experience validating application behavior involving role-based access, auditability, workflow controls, and sensitive or regulated data.
Experience supporting testing in government, healthcare, human services, financial services, or other compliance-driven environments.
Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman, Swagger, or similar platforms.
Experience with performance, usability, and non-functional testing for modern web applications.
Experience supporting Section 508 accessibility testing and validating compliance of web applications with accessibility standards and assistive technology expectations.
