Role Specification:
We’re seeking a creative and data-driven Marketing Manager to lead growth and engagement across our UK and US territories. In this leadership position, you’ll work closely with the co-founding team to scale the business, develop and execute innovative campaigns, and secure international media coverage. You’ll own end-to-end content creation—from ideation to distribution—ensuring every asset resonates with both mainstream and targeted audiences. As a true generalist, you’ll manage a small team (Content Creator, Lead Qualification Manager), coordinate with external web-development and advertising contractors, and collaborate across departments to amplify the Hero Arm’s impact.

You should be able to:

  • Develop comprehensive marketing strategies tailored to the cultural nuances of both the USA and UK.

  • Dream up and produce high-reach content (written, video, social) that tells empowering user stories and highlights our technology.

  • Secure regional, national, and international media coverage by leveraging existing journalist relationships and responding swiftly to inbound media inquiries.

  • Drive lead generation via a combination of digital channels—website, social media, email—and track performance with Google Analytics and native social analytics tools.

  • Manage all digital channels, ensuring www.openbionics.com is up to date, engaging, and conversion-focused.

  • Oversee PPC advertising campaigns in partnership with contractors, optimizing spend against performance metrics.

  • Cultivate genuine relationships with existing and prospective Hero Arm users, co-creating content and championing their voices in every campaign.

  • Stay abreast of emerging platforms and techniques (e.g., TikTok, influencer activations) to maintain a competitive edge in social growth and community engagement.

  • Partner with the Head of Marketing on brand management and international brand partnerships.

  • Manage all marketing collateral and material needs for our clinics and partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end marketing strategy for the USA (and support UK initiatives), aligning with overall business objectives.

  • Conceive, plan, and execute high-impact content campaigns—video, written, and social—that amplify user stories and product innovations.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets (regional, national, international) and secure earned coverage that boosts brand visibility.

  • Respond to all inbound media enquiries, coordinate interviews, and prepare spokespeople with talking points.

  • Manage and optimize www.openbionics.com—including content updates, SEO best practices, and CRO tactics—to drive user registrations and lead conversions.

  • Oversee all Open Bionics social channels: content creation calendar, community management, growth tactics, and engagement metrics.

  • Partner with PPC contractors to plan, launch, and optimize paid campaigns on Google Ads and relevant social platforms.

  • Track, analyze, and report on marketing performance using Google Analytics, native social analytics, and CRM data—deriving actionable insights and refining tactics.

  • Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with existing Hero Arm users; involve them in co-creative campaigns, user-generated content, and advocacy initiatives.

  • Stay current on emerging marketing platforms, trends, and tools (e.g., new social media features, influencer marketing, short-form video).

  • Collaborate cross-functionally (product, clinical, design) to surface compelling story angles, product announcements, and user milestones.

  • Support partners with their marketing needs. 

  • Participate in ad-hoc projects—product launches, trade shows, webinars, and special campaigns—as required.

Person Scorecard

Essential:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in marketing management / leadership, ideally within a startup or high-growth environment.

  • Proven track record producing and distributing high-impact content (video, written, social) that drives measurable engagement and lead generation.

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills—comfortable presenting ideas to internal teams, external stakeholders, and media.

  • Demonstrated experience working with media outlets (regional, national, international) to secure coverage in tech, health, or lifestyle publications.

  • Success growing social media platforms organically, with a clear understanding of community management and content cadence.

  • Strategic thinker who can plan, execute, and iterate on campaigns while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Passionate about making a difference in the limb different community; able to empathize with users and elevate their voices.

  • Ability to measure, evaluate, iterate, and execute campaigns and projects. You will be highly organised and detail oriented, an excellent planner and communicator. 

Desirable:

  • Experience using Mailchimp, a CRM/ERP platform (e.g., NetSuite) for marketing automation and lead management.

  • Familiarity with PPC campaign management tools (e.g., Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager).

  • Prior experience in a similar marketing role within a healthcare, medical devices, or consumer-tech startup.

  • Basic design sensibility or experience collaborating with designers to create visual assets (infographics, social graphics, video storyboards).

  • Knowledge of email marketing best practices and segmentation strategies.

  • Exposure to influencer marketing or creator collaborations, particularly on TikTok or Instagram.

  • Experience with Netsuite.

  • Experience running marketing events for both a B2B and D2C audience. 

  • Experience managing a £1m+ budget to hit targets.
