Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support their property management operations in the US.

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented, experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in property management accounting. The ideal candidate will take ownership of end-to-end financial operations related to tenant and owner accounting, including tenant ledgers, bill processing, bank reconciliations, owner financial packets, and preparation of profit & loss statements and balance sheets. This role requires expertise in setting up accurate accounting structures and processes within a property management context.

Responsibilities

Tenant & Owner Accounting

  • Maintain and reconcile tenant ledgers; ensure accuracy of charges, receipts, and deposits

  • Input and process monthly rent payments, CAM reconciliations, and late fees as applicable

  • Manage owner financial records, including creation and delivery of monthly owner packets with detailed reports

Bill Input & Processing

  • Review, code, and process invoices and bills for multiple properties

  • Track vendor accounts and ensure timely payments in coordination with property and maintenance teams

  • Implement controls to ensure compliance with accounting best practices and vendor contracts

Banking & Reconciliations

  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations across operating and reserve accounts

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and analyze monthly Profit & Loss (P&L) statements and balance sheets by property

  • Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting for managed properties

  • Support year-end reporting and coordinate with external CPAs for audits or tax filings

Accounting Setup & Best Practices

  • Design and implement proper accounting setup and workflows for new properties

  • Ensure accounting systems and chart of accounts are aligned with company policies and property-level reporting needs

  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and industry standards for real estate accounting

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required)

  • Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience, ideally in property management or real estate

  • Strong knowledge of property management software AppFolio (required)

  • Experience in multi-entity and accrual-based accounting

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and general ledger systems

  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Skills

  • Understanding of lease structures, tenant charges, and CAM reconciliations

  • Familiarity with vendor compliance and 1099 preparation

  • Knowledge of trust accounting and segregated bank account requirements
