Manager, Data Engineering

Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers (onshore and offshore) in building scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of our enterprise data warehouse and data lake, aligning them with healthcare data standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA).
- Design and optimize data pipelines using Azure Databricks, Spark, and other Azure data services to ingest, transform, and deliver healthcare data from multiple sources, including EMRs, claims, and patient portals.
- Collaborate with clinical, operational, and analytics teams to deliver reliable, self-service data and insights.
- Ensure robust data governance, privacy, and quality practices across the organization.
- Drive adoption of Agile and iterative development practices within the team.
- Play a key role in workforce planning, hiring, coaching, and performance management.
- Communicate data strategy, roadmap, and results clearly to leadership and cross-functional teams.
Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles, with 2+ years in a leadership or people management capacity.
- Strong background in SQL, data modeling, and ETL/ELT development.
- Hands-on expertise with Azure Databricks, including:
- Building Spark-based data pipelines
- Managing cluster performance and cost optimization
- Integrating with Azure Data Factory and Data Lake Storage.
- Deep understanding of Azure cloud architecture and healthcare-specific data challenges.
- Familiarity with healthcare data formats and standards, such as HL7, FHIR, or claims data.
- Proficiency in BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Sigma.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
