Job Title: Enterprise Platform Engineer
Department & Team: IT Infrastructure
Reports to: Richard Garner, Senior IT Manager - Infrastructure Operations
This role requires availability to work in alignment with U.S. Eastern Time Zone
(09:30 - 18:30 EST)

Summary

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Platform Engineer to administer, maintain, and optimize key enterprise platforms with a strong focus on Exchange Online, SQL Server, and IIS/Apache Tomcat web administration. This role acts as a Level 3 escalation point for our Managed Service Provider, ensuring seamless connectivity across systems, supporting business productivity, and driving platform reliability. In addition, you will contribute to implementing enhancements, delivering projects, and supporting additional enterprise applications as needed.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exchange Online & Microsoft Exchange (Primary Focus)

    • Serve as the lead administrator for Exchange Online and Exchange Server (2016/2019).

    • Manage email flow, routing (MX records), spam filtering, and Microsoft 365 security policies.

    • Troubleshoot complex issues and implement policies to ensure availability, performance, and compliance.
       

  • SQL Server Administration

    • Deliver advanced troubleshooting, performance tuning, and high-availability support for SQL Server environments.

    • Ensure database integrity, security, backup/restore, and optimization for business-critical applications.

  • IIS / Apache Tomcat Web Administration

    • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot IIS and Apache Tomcat web servers.

    • Ensure optimal performance, availability, and security for hosted applications.
       

  • Additional Enterprise Platform Support

    • Provide expert-level administration, customization, and troubleshooting of Jira and Confluence.

    • Support automation, collaboration, and secure workflows across tools such as Power Automate, PowerShell, SharePoint, Globalscape, and Mimecast.

    • Monitor system usage to guide license management and cost optimization.
       

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner with IT, business, and vendor teams to identify requirements and deliver scalable, repeatable improvements.

    • Act as a trusted technical advisor, providing clear documentation and driving process enhancements.
       

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Exchange Online, SQL Server, and IIS/Apache Tomcat administration.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to resolve complex technical issues.

  • Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Experience supporting large enterprise environments with integrations and complex system dependencies.

  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and tools such as ServiceNow; ITIL Foundations certification preferred.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in Agile and DevOps environments.
