Schedule: Full time; 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM PST

Company Description

Our client is an operator-investor managing four technology-driven companies. He works closely with small, fast-moving founding teams and is now hiring a full-time Accountant to modernize financial operations and support the company’s growth. The environment is lean, digital-first, and ideal for someone who wants to learn directly from a hands-on founder.

Role Overview

The Accountant will work directly with the founder and the core leadership team, handling daily bookkeeping and financial reporting for the primary AI business. Over time, the role may expand to support additional companies he manages.

The position covers daily bank uploads and coding in Xero, account reconciliations, monthly Profit & Loss statements, and quarterly cashflow reporting. You will also help build out internal dashboards used for investor updates.

This role is best suited for someone young, trainable, tech-savvy, and fully comfortable shifting from manual accounting processes to a fully digital workflow. Experience with Canadian tax filings and FinTech or SaaS companies is a strong bonus.

Key Responsibilities

• Upload daily bank statement data into Xero, ensuring accurate categorization and account coding.
• Maintain organized, up-to-date financial records in a fully digital workflow.
• Perform monthly P&L reconciliations, identify variances, and prepare clear summaries.
• Prepare quarterly cashflow statements for leadership and investor review.
• Assist in developing financial dashboards for reporting and forecasting needs.
• Support the founder and founding team with financial documentation, queries, and analysis.
• Help transition from paper-based processes to a fully digital accounting setup.
• Review and validate financial data across accounts and entities as needed.
• Potentially support additional companies managed by the founder as the role grows.
• Maintain compliance with internal controls and support tax-related preparation (Canadian experience is a plus).

Qualifications

• 1–3+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience with Xero is strongly preferred.
• Highly tech-savvy; comfortable with cloud tools and digital accounting workflows.
• Strong spreadsheet and data organization skills (Google Sheets / Excel).
• Detail-oriented and consistent with financial accuracy.
• Willing to learn directly from the founder and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Canadian tax filings is a significant advantage.
• Background in FinTech or SaaS is a plus.
• Must be able to work 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM PST Monday–Friday.
